Comedians change how we look at our selfs and society through culture mass media

                 George Lopez is an a actor and comedian. Born on April 23,1961 in Mission Hills,California. Abandoned by his mother,he used his painful experiences as material for his stand up comedy.He was raised by his grandparents. By the late 1980's,Lopez was playing clubs around the country and appearing on television shows and comedy specials. He is a well know comedian .

   George Lopez uses his personal experiences for his comedy and it affects our culture building,by the way society looks at Hispanics. When people watch George Lopez, for example it brain washes what people think of Hispanics, "we" as in Hispanics start to believe in the stereotypes because stereotypes have been added on through mass media,such as comedians like Gabriel Iglesias and George Lopez would talk about their childhood  memories. Most of  George Lopez's jokes are true about hispanics but thats not what "we" as hispanics want to portray as Hispanics.

"Mr. Lopez never celebrated one while growing up in the San Fernando Valley. He was raised by a grandmother whose own life of hardship, he said, left her ill-equipped to express love or joy, much less indulge in frivolities like parties". That never stopped George Lopez in tying to reach his goal. He always said,"people would always tell me that I'm worthless and I'm going to end up on the streets but guess what I sold out 8 shows in a week and its at the gibson amphitheatre in Universal studios 50,00o0 tickets were sold". Mass media influenced him in wanting to be a comedian because he wanted to talk about the struggles and pain he went through but also see the bright side of what he is today, his childhood makes him who he is today. Gabriel Iglesias is also a Hispanic comedian who likes to use his experiences in his comedy.

"Gabriel Iglesias uses his heavyset appearance, comedian he has dubbed himself "The Fluffy Man"; a good deal of his act is related to his weight and appearance. He also performs observational comedy about race and growing up Hispanic in America. Known for his high energy and cartoonish character voices, Iglesias always seems to be having a ton of fun on stage. His audiences can usually say the same". Gabriel Iglesia and George Lopez has influenced the mass media through culture buildings .

Abuse has no place in love.

      Jasmine Villegas is 19 years old. She is an underground singer and also appeared in the music video "Baby" by Justin Bieber. Jasmine was in an abusive relationship for over a year and finally spoke up and left that relationship. Later, she made a music video, "Didn't Mean It," telling the true story of her relationship with her boyfriend . “What he ‘didn't mean’ was all the times he put me down, all the verbal and emotional abuse. It’s all the negative things he said and did including the times he physically abused me,” explained Jasmine about the title of her song. "Nearly 15 million high school students nationwide experience physical abuse from a dating partner in a single year.One in three adolescents in the U.S. is a victim of physical, sexual, emotional or verbal abuse from a dating partner.Only 33% of teens who have ever been in an abusive relationship have reported it " according to Jasmine Villegas. " Her advice to people in an abusive relationships is that it NEVER gets better. She explains, "I tried to believe that things would change for the better but it only got worse. My advice would be to go to organizations likeLove Is Respect and research how you can get help. There’s also a hotline number you can call 24 hrs a day 1-866-331-9474 to speak to someone who can help you. You can also text “loveis” to 77054. Overall just remember that you have to take action and get out! You can’t ignore the situation, it will not go away." She's not the only one giving advice. LikeLove is also there to support people.

Likelove is a website that gives advice. It teaches people signs to look out for if they think they are in an abusive relationship. Likelove also gives online advice of being digitally abused. "Happy and healthy relationships are built on open, honest, and respectful communication, both online and off. If your partner harasses you via text, steals or pressures you to give them your passwords, or gets angry when you don’t respond to them immediately, you could be experiencing digital abuse. Your not in this alone, people nationwide are going through the same thing your going through." 



Jasmine Macias is an example of a victim of  being in a abusive relationship and found help on likelove. A lot of things went through her mind before she left. Eventually, she told her story of  her abusive relationship and she found the strength to leave.  Abusive relationships NEVER get better if anything they gets worse. So if you are in a abusive relationship or know someone who is, just know your not alone. Dont wait till they "didnt mean it".

Fred Buchanan lives on the blocks of  Eveleigh st in Australia until he was 5 years old. He lived in a house hold with his parents,grandparents,and six brothers and sisters. He is 18 years old and recently finished high school at Alexandria Park community schools.Now Fred lives with his cousin in Petersham. Fred was highly affected by the loss of his cousin TJ Hickey. TJ died in 2004. TJ Hickey died when he fell off his bike while running away from the police. Fred said "his friends were subjected to continuous police harassment and routinely stripped-searched on the street when they were younger". This doesn't just happen in Australia because it also happens in south west Detroit. Statistically almost 5,000 children stripped search by metropolitan police over five years.Metropolitan officers stripped-searched just over 134,000

Back to school

Finally done packing and got a good night rest now it's time to go back the "College life "
